Extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma (EMC) is a rare softtissue sarcoma. In contrast to the well-defined clinicopathological and molecular features, the line of differentiation of EMC cells remains unclear. Therefore, EMC is provisionally classified as a tumor of uncertain differentiation in the revised version of the World Health Organization classification of tumors of soft tissue and bone. A case of typical extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma, which developed in the left ankle was studied and reported in order to describe the historical aspects as well as updated clinicopathological and molecular genetic characteristics of EMC.
