Starting this month, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery and its growing family of publications will be guided by our new Editor-in-Chief, Marc Swiontkowski, MD, who will take over from Vernon Tolo, MD. The staff and Board of Trustees are both pleased to have such an excellent individual taking the reins as another in a long line of superlative individuals who have served the community of orthopaedics in this role.
Vern served as Editor-in-Chief from 2010 and will remain as Editor Emeritus through a transitional period. During his tenure, The Journal was able to diversify and grow in many important ways. Vern oversaw the development of a unique online journal of case reports (JBJS Case Connector), a robust and video-enriched journal of procedures (JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques), and a new review journal in orthopaedics (JBJS Reviews).
