Brown tumors are erosive bony lesions caused by rapid osteolytic activity and peritrabecular fibrosis due to hyperparathyroidism, resulting in local bone destruction. Although brown tumor is commonly seen in ends of long bones, the pelvis and and ribs, it is extremely easy to be misdiagnosed because of the lack of specificity of the clinical manifestations. Here, we present 2 cases of primary hyperparathyroidism with brown tumors. 2 cases illustrate the importance of the measurement of the parathyroid hormone and serum calcium levels in the early diagnosis of primary hyperparathyroidism. The most useful therapy for patients with brown tumor is surgical excision of adenoma.
